Upon registration, students are given a Reading, Writing, and Math assessment to gauge both strengths and areas in need of improvement. Then, individualized lessons are prepared and taught. Additionally, we help with homework assignments and test preparation.

We focus on:

Reading, Writing, Math, French, EQAO preparation, Spec Ed, ESL

High Five Academy also offers Reading Diagnostic Assessments
The Reading Diagnostic Assessment determines a child’s comprehension during oral reading, silent reading and listening. This test breaks down the Reading Process and uncovers the area(s) of difficulty and the reading level each child is at. A report is given after the assessment explaining the test results and listing the strategies that are recommended to improve the child’s reading.

Online Tutoring

As a COVID-19 measure, we now offer online tutoring. Tutoring classes are taught by either OCT’s or qualified tutors. Classes are one hour in length. Extended hours can be determined with instructor.

FAQ

How does it work?

If you are finding that your child needs extra help with their studies, to either catch-up or keep-up, we offer academic tutoring. All lessons are individually planned by Ontario Certified Teachers. Children are taught in small group settings, with a ratio of one teacher to 4-5 students.

Does my child get assessed prior to the class?

We assess for reading, writing, comprehension and math on the first scheduled tutoring class. After the assessment, we develop an educational plan for each child that focuses on the development of the areas that are of concern.

If my child misses a class can I get a refund?

Refunds are not given for classes missed or allow for days to be carried over to the next month. We do allow for children to make up a class on another day.

Do you have French Tutoring?

Yes, we offer French Tutoring on select days (depending on the availability of the French teacher).

How long are French classes?

French classes are 1 hour long and are offered between 4-5pm, 5-6pm or 6-7pm on the select days.

How is French taught?

Students are required to bring their French homework or assignments from school and the teacher assists the child in understanding and completing their work. Additional work is given for homework to help the student’s learning.
